We knew that we were in for a long, cold winter when we moved up here to Innsbruck, but what we weren’t counting on was such a cold, brief summer, with so much rain. Being from “rainy” Oregon, I know something about the subject, and I can say without hesitation that it is actually wetter than Oregon, where, truth be told, the summers are actually very nice, and rain free (it’s the endless months of gray drizzle in winter that get to you).
We really had a shock this week. It rained incessantly for three days – a very cold rain. When it finally stopped, I went outside to take some pictures, and found the mountains around covered with snow, and not just the peaks, but not really that far above town:
